XCIEL Zone 2 Intrinsically Safe iPad Cases

The ever popular iPad can now be used to its full potential with cases that convert it into a ruggedised, intrinsically safe tablet suitable for use in Zone 2 environments. By housing the iPad inside a specially designed case, it’s suitable for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas. 

These industries include oil and gas, mining, paint and chemical manufacturing, petrol stations, field services and those that handle fine organic dusts like wood and flour. The cases are designed to keep these workers safe by containing any electrical or thermal energy that has the potential to cause ignition of a hazardous atmosphere. 
 

Non-Incendive and Intrinsically Safe

For years, the only tablets that could be used in explosive environments were fully rugged, most often Android devices. If your worksite is classified Zone 2, there is an intrinsically safe case to fit most iPad models. The enclosure and shock protection padding contains any electrical or thermal energy that has the potential to cause ignition of a hazardous atmospheric mixture. 

The cases convert standard iPads into rugged devices that are protected from water and dust (IP54) and  are compliant with the following hazardous standards:

• Class 1 Division 2
• Group A B C D
• ATEX Zone 2
• Ex ic IIC T4 Gc
• Ta: -20°C to +50°C
   

Certifications

The Zone 2 cases are ATEX certified with markings clearly displayed on the case to assist with site access.
